Cookbook Club Vol IV
Welcome back to The Cookbook Club! This week was pretty uneventful, mainly because I ended up with a horrible stomach bug that knocked me out for about 48 hours. Let’s just say it wasn’t my finest moment, but I’m back and feeling ready to dive into the weekend. Despite the downtime, there’s still plenty to share—so let’s jump into what’s been keeping me inspired (and now, back to feeling human) this week!
Being sick this week made me think about my go to meals when I’m sick. I like the simplest thing possible: buttered toast. There’s just something about it that feels comforting when nothing else sounds appealing. I also swear by a homemade version of the Starbucks Medicine Ball—steamed lemonade, tea, and honey. It’s the most soothing drink when you’re feeling under the weather. And let’s not forget the Gatorade. It has to be ice cold and with a straw.
1. Fall shopping
It’s truly a shame (or maybe a good thing for my bank account) that I always forget about Mango for online shopping. Their stuff is so good and honestly I think it’s better quality than other stores for not a bad price. I’m really into their jackets and denim pieces this fall.

2. Park Walks
We found the cutest park near us. It’s the perfect 3 mile loop so it takes us about 1 hr. There is a little stream that runs along it which our pup loves to take mid walk break.
3. Fall Bucket List
- Apple Picking
- Having a Lindsey’s Donut at the Circleville Pumpkin Show
- Rewatching my favorite fall shows – for me it’s gotta be Harry Potter
- Eating all the apple treats
- Drink hot apple ciders and chai teas

Thinking of all the recipes to make with in season apples
Are you into beauty tools? I totally am. I’m not great about being consistent so I’m not buying anymore until I get into a regular routine. But I loved scrolling through this list. I’m adding this guasah tool and maybe an at home laser hair removal tool.
Dreaming of traveling to Mexico City – the food, builds, colors.
And if I’m going to Mexico City, I’d love to stay at the Brick Hotel – the indoor-outdoor vibe is perfection
Spring fashion from NY Fashion week – ehh I’m not ready for any of that. Anyone else? I will never be the first one up on the trends
Budget French Girl Style is something I can get on board with
More ideas for a fall bucket list
Kitchenaid released it’s limited edition wood bowl mixer – it’s so pretty, but is it practical?
5. Pinterest Outfits
More fall outfits. Still hooked on the denim and denim. I’m also into trying out the “unexpected red” theory
6. Trying Apple Recipes
September is for all things apple. We have the rest of the fall months for pumpkin so I like to really savor apple flavors in both sweet and savory recipes.
Apple cider Donut Bread – are you kidding me? I’ll take 2 slices, warm with salted butter.
Autumn Harvest Honeycrisp Apple Salad – do you have to use honeycrisp apples in this recipe? Yes. Honeycrisp apples are elite. Unfortunately they will cost you a small fortune but I don’t make the rules. It’s always worth it.
Butternut Squash and Bacon Apple Soup – I love a silky smooth soup.
7. Cookbook
I am a big fan of Dan Pashmen’s podcast Sporkful. So I was finally able to read his cookbook Anythings Pastable. There are definitely some good ones in there that I’m excited to recreate and rif on (kimchi carbonara!) But I wouldn’t say it’s a must buy. I feel like most pasta dishes don’t truly need a recipe, add enough cheese and pasta water and you almost guaranteed to have a delicious meal.
