Cookbook Club Vol III

Welcome back to The Cookbook Club, where I’m sharing everything that’s inspired and fueled me this week. It was Labor Day, which usually means a shorter work week, but alas, working in healthcare doesn’t come with holidays off. Still, the week flew by, and it feels like our house is finally starting to settle into a groove. Between juggling work, recipes, and home life, there’s plenty to dive into this week—so let’s get started!

1. Things I’m loving

I’ve been loving all outfits that have skirts. Long, mini, midi – I love them all.

2. What I’m making this week

I love the change of seasons and how inspiring it can be. This week I’ve been recipe testing from fall cookies (recipes coming soon). Come fall are you more of a pumpkin pie or apple cider fan?

As a family of two, who loves to cook, we get a lot of left overs. So I love repurposing them to make different meals. This week I loosely followed HowSweetEats cider chuck roast but added fennel and potato’s – so good. Then the next night I made a Mexican style pizza with the left over roast, taco sauce, cheese and lots of caramelized onions. It totally hit the spot.

3. What I’ve been listening too

Binge listening to all of Caro Chambers episodes on So Into That. Her convos are so relaxed but fun. Obviously, I’ve love the one with Gaby from What’s Gabby Cooking and Jess Damuck, Salad Freak Author. Just started this one too – how to get rich with Vivian Tu

It seems like I’ve see Jess Damuck everywhere this week. I also really liked her interview on this is TASTE about her newest book health nut.

4. Enjoying

Soaking up these blistering hot summer days. I know we’re starting the second week of September and everyone has fall on their mind. But come January I will be logging for these hot sunny days.

And just because I’m baking in the sun doesn’t mean I’m not reading about fall flavors (especially in the case of this green apple, cheddar salad!)

5. Current Obsession

Aprons.

Abi Apron

Posy Apron

Henney Apron

Let’s talk about aprons—where did they go, and why aren’t we wearing them more? I’ve recently fallen down the Etsy rabbit hole, obsessed with both new and vintage styles, and I’m convinced they deserve a serious comeback. Aprons used to be essential, signaling that you were truly cooking, not just throwing something together between emails. They’re practical (hello, pockets!) and honestly, they look cool. Wearing one feels intentional, like you’re owning your space in the kitchen. It’s the uniform for a kitchen, and I love a good uniform.

6. Links

  • Reading – the French Way of Living. A good reminder to slow down and enjoy this season.
  • I am going to be doing a lot of thrift store shopping for the home – I would also add light fixtures to this list!
  • Thoughts on Air Fryers? I’ve never had one because I felt like my oven on convection does the same thing. But this list made me reconsider.
  • More fall recipes incase you ready to get into the season
  • The color brown is hands-down the best color to wear because it’s effortlessly cool, timeless, and makes you look like you actually know what you’re doing.

7. Home Updates

It finally feels that we’re making progress with the house project. We officially have a driveway and finalized last minute design details – mainly the front door. We originally had a single door with side lights but after touring a few homes we realized how great having a wide double door would be. So I spent a lot of time online looking for inspiration. We finally settled on a black double door with 3/4 glass. I’m obsessed.
